The Aurora Police Department is accepting applications for the position of Police Officer. We are looking for individuals with the highest standards of honesty, professionalism, and integrity to maintain public trust, respect, and community partnership.

The Aurora Police Dept. is located in a newly remodeled and updated Law Enforcement Center that also houses the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department, Hamilton County Jail, Hamilton County Dispatch Center and an office for the Nebraska State Patrol.

Our Officers are provided full uniforms, duty weapon and rifle, bullet proof vests, body cameras and all the necessary equipment and training to be successful in this profession. Our patrol vehicles are well maintained and equipped with in-car computers, scanners, and printers.

The City of Aurora is a progressive, growing community located in south central Nebraska along Interstate 80. Aurora is located 20 minutes from Grand Island and an hour from Lincoln.

SHIFTS: 12 hours; 84 hours every 2 weeks with every other weekend off (Fri, Sat, Sun). Must also be able to work various shifts, weekends, and holidays.

REQUIREMENTS: All applicants must meet the Nebraska Law Enforcement certification standards and physical requirements. Applicants must be a U.S. Citizen, 21 years of age, excellent physical condition, possess valid Nebraska driver’s license on date of employment, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and be of good moral character with no felony, domestic assault or serious misdemeanor convictions. Certification preferred, but not mandatory.
