The Metropolitan Community College Police Department is currently accepting applications for the position of Police Officer.

The Metropolitan Community College Police Department has the primary jurisdiction and responsibility to investigate crimes and provide police services for Metropolitan Community College locations within the four-county service area of Douglas, Sarpy, Dodge and Washington. The MCC Police Department has a vision of being a preeminent law enforcement organization that serves a multi-cultural, educational environment of over 45,000 faculty, students, staff and visitors. College Police Officers are located at the Elkhorn-Valley, Fort Omaha and South Omaha Campuses, as well as the Applied Technology, Express, Fremont Area and Sarpy Centers. Metropolitan Community College (MCC) is a comprehensive, public community college that offers affordable, quality education to all residents of Dodge, Douglas, Sarpy and Washington counties. Founded in 1974, MCC is the second largest postsecondary institution in Nebraska and offers more than 100 one- and two-year career programs in business administration, computer and office technologies, culinary arts, industrial and construction technologies, nursing and allied health, social sciences and services, and visual and electronic technologies, as well as academic transfer programs. Current active Nebraska Law Enforcement Officer Certification –OR- those on inactive status and qualified to return to active duty status by process of reactivation within 12 months of hire. High School diploma or GED, plus one year full time job-related experience required. Associate's degree preferred. Equivalent combination of education and/or work experience considered. Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of hire and be qualified to carry a firearm and other law enforcement tools as directed by Police Department policy and in compliance with the city, federal and state laws. Must have a valid driver's license & insurability to operate College vehicles and may be required to pass a medical exam. Hiring process includes a background check. Official college transcripts and documentation of law enforcement certification required at the time of application.

Current fiscal year starting wage for ‘active status’ law enforcement certifications is $19.81 per hour - increases to $20.60 on July 1, 2018 and to $21.82 per hour after 1-year of service. Additional .25 cents per hour shift differential for hours worked between 6p & 6a.
