The York Police Department is currently hiring for the position of Police Officer.

These positions are regular, full-time positions with competitive pay and benefits, including paid overtime and holidays, and excellent family health insurance. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis, with immediate evaluations and an accelerated hiring process for certified applicants. Non-certified applicants will be contacted with test and interview information after an initial review period.

The York Police Officer pay scale for non-certified officers starts at $19.05 per hour. Certified or experienced officers starting wages are determined based upon training and qualifications. Sign on bonuses are also negotiable for certified/experienced officers.

Applicants must be at least 21 years of age, have the ability to obtain a valid Nebraska Driver’s License, have and obtained a high school diploma or equivalent. Applicants must pass rigorous background checks and a pre-employment drug screening, and will undergo a series of written, physical, and psychological tests.

York Nebraska is a quiet, Eastern Nebraska community of approximately 8,000 residents, located at the intersection of Interstate 80 and Highway 81. With short commutes to Grand Island, Lincoln, and even Omaha, easy access to bigger city amenities combine with small town values and charm. Residents in York enjoy ample opportunities for outdoor activities, excellent public and private schools, and a wide array of local entertainment and activities. The police department is made up of 17 sworn officers, a community service officer, and 2 civilian support staff.
