The UNL Police Department seeks to add to our team of dedicated police officers with individuals who utilize good judgement, relate well with the public, and can be a role model for the community.

UNL Police is a full-service, accredited law enforcement agency with over 65 sworn and non-sworn personnel. The Department provides uniformed patrol, criminal investigations/threat assessment, and security/special event coordination for two campuses in Lincoln and University-owned property throughout the state. The Department is also responsible for the overall safety and security of nationally televised Nebraska football games and other athletic events.

The Investigator position is assigned to the Investigations Unit and is under general supervision of the Sergeant of Investigations. Work involves providing investigative support to patrol officers; enforcing State laws and city ordinances; conducting threat assessments; conducting investigations on criminal offenses to gather evidence, obtain witnesses, and make arrests or appropriate referrals; providing documentation and testimony for hearings; and providing general safety for University properties and citizens on campus to ensure a safe environment.

Salary: $50,785 annual salary with overtime and shift differential available. Currently sworn officers qualify for a hiring incentive and higher salary commensurate with experience
