Basic Training Program - Cost Estimates
Students who are employed as a law enforcement officer (Neb. Rev. Stat. §81-1401 (8) (a)), by a law enforcement agency (Neb. Rev Stat §81-1401 (7)) and attend the Basic Certification course at the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center do not pay a tuition for the course.
Students who are not employed as law enforcement officers by a Nebraska Law Enforcement agency and attend the Basic Certification Course are referred to as “non-law” or diploma students. Tuition is charged to these students.
Students who attend the Basic Certification course in Bad Standing due to academic or disciplinary actions must pay full tuition.
All students will be assessed a materials fee and a fleet use fee.
There are other costs associated with attending the Basic certification course.
Current cost for the meal plan offered through a private vendor can be located on the Tuition and Fees link. Meals are provided Monday through Friday. Basic students do not have an open campus for lunch.
The student will also be responsible for basic uniforms and physical training gear (PT clothing). The cost for these items is roughly $150-$200. Once an applicant has been approved to attend the class more detailed information will be provided to the student and agency.
This is not an exhaustive list of required equipment. That list will be provided to the student and agency upon acceptance into the course. Some of the equipment costs include duty gear (belts, holsters, and vests), handgun and ammunition, patrol rifle and ammunition, eye and ear protection for firearms training handcuffs and flashlights.
